Google Introduces Option to Change Gmail Addresses

Millions of Gmail users are in for a significant update as Google unveils the option to change email addresses. This feature is a welcome change for those who are looking to switch from their original Gmail account names.

According to Google, users can now modify their Google Account username, the part before @gmail.com that is used for signing in to various services such as Gmail, Photos, and Drive. The update allows the old and new email addresses to coexist, ensuring that users do not miss any messages sent to either account.

Google assures that the transition will not impact the data stored in the accounts, including photos, messages, and emails. While this update is currently only available in the US, users in the UK will have to wait for its rollout.

For users in the US, Google recommends accessing the Google account settings, selecting personal info, and then navigating to the email section to change the Google account email. Users are advised to choose a new and unique username, with the original email address remaining as an alternate. It’s important to note that only one new address can be created every 12 months.

To see if the update has reached your account, make sure to review your settings promptly.
