Luke Littler expressed frustration towards a darts coach who criticized his participation in the World Youth Championship, calling the coach an ‘absolute helmet’. Littler, 18, competed at the event in Wigan recently but was defeated in the semi-finals by Beau Greaves, the eventual champion.
Despite the criticism, Littler shared his positive experience at the tournament and complimented Greaves, a three-time women’s world champion at just 21 years old. However, the darts coach, Andy Cornwall, had a different opinion, describing Littler’s decision to play in the youth championship as ‘ridiculous’.
In response to Cornwall’s remarks, Littler took to social media to defend himself, labeling Cornwall as an ‘absolute helmet’ and dismissing his comments. Littler justified his participation in the World Youth Championship by highlighting that it provided valuable experience playing against skilled opponents.
Cornwall also directed criticism towards another darts player, Stephen Bunting, questioning his positioning during matches. Cornwall suggested that Bunting’s stance at the oche hindered his consistency and performance compared to players like Michael van Gerwen and Luke Humphries.
Looking ahead, the 2025/26 PDC World Championship raises speculation about Luke Littler’s potential success. Sky has announced a discounted Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the upcoming season, offering a vast selection of live matches, including over 200 Premier League games.
