“Schools in Holyhead Locked Down Over Axe Threat”

Two schools in Holyhead experienced a lockdown today due to reports of an individual carrying an axe. Police vehicles, including armed officers, were observed heading to the area. Ysgol Gymraeg Morswyn and Ysgol Kingsland were both placed on lockdown, with parents receiving notifications about the situation. The lockdown has now been lifted by North Wales Police.

North Wales Police stated that they had received unconfirmed reports of a person spotted with an axe in the Kingsland area of Holyhead. Authorities conducted patrols and ongoing searches to verify the accuracy of the reports.

In a later update, it was disclosed that a woman in her twenties had been apprehended. The police expressed gratitude for the public’s cooperation and urged against speculation regarding the incident.

Inspector Wayne Francis emphasized the continued police presence in Holyhead for reassurance. The Anglesey County Council confirmed the precautionary lockdown at the schools following local concerns, which was quickly lifted after police confirmation of safety.

The council praised the schools for their quick and appropriate response during the lockdown, with the safety of students and staff as the top priority. They also thanked the community and North Wales Police for their support.
