“Bodycare to Close 30 Additional Stores Amid Administration”

Bodycare has announced the closure of an additional 30 stores as part of its recent administration process. The beauty retailer disclosed that these closures would take place within the current week.

Administrators have cited reasons such as inventory shortages and the high costs associated with operating physical stores as factors leading to the decision to shut down these stores. This move will result in the loss of jobs for all 130 employees working at these locations.

Following these closures, Bodycare will have 85 stores remaining in operation. The company brought in administrators from Interpath on September 5 due to challenges with rising expenses, financial gaps, strained supplier relations, and resulting product shortages. Initially, the company had declared the closure of 32 stores, leading to around 450 job cuts.

Nick Holloway, the managing director at Interpath and joint administrator, conveyed appreciation on Monday for the dedication shown by Bodycare staff since the administration. He stated that discussions are ongoing with interested parties to potentially salvage as much of the business as possible while the 85 remaining stores continue to operate.

Interpath is actively seeking a buyer for the business and its assets, acknowledging interest from various parties regarding the stores.

Established in Lancashire in 1970, Bodycare offers a variety of beauty products, fragrances, and bathroom essentials.
