“Wetherspoon Launches Joe’s Pub at University of Birmingham”

Wetherspoon’s latest endeavor involves the establishment of a new pub at the University of Birmingham, named Joe’s after the university’s renowned clock tower. This initiative, part of a collaborative effort with the Guild of Students, aims to provide a familiar Wetherspoon experience to the university community.

Scheduled to debut in Easter 2026 following substantial renovations, the new venue will offer the complete Wetherspoon food and beverage selection, including popular weekly promotions like the Thursday Curry Club. With nearly 800 establishments nationwide, Wetherspoon’s first university pub was introduced at Hull University in 2022.

Expressing enthusiasm for the partnership, Wetherspoon’s chief executive, John Hutson, emphasized the company’s commitment to ensuring the success of Joe’s Bar in conjunction with the Guild of Students.

Antonia Listrat, the President of the University of Birmingham Guild of Students, highlighted the mutual benefits of the collaboration, emphasizing the value-for-money offerings for students and the potential for increased job opportunities within the bar. Proceeds generated will support various student activities, reinforcing the Guild’s commitment to enhancing the student experience.

In addition to this development, Wetherspoon plans to inaugurate six new pubs by mid-January. The announcement follows the launch of the Christmas menu, featuring the return of the popular turkey dinner comprising turkey breast, stuffing, seasonal vegetables, pigs-in-blankets, and more.

Although prices for the festive meal have increased slightly compared to the previous year, Wetherspoon aims to keep price hikes minimal amidst favorable sales and profit reports. The Christmas menu will be accessible until December 31, offering customers a festive dining experience at Wetherspoon locations across the UK.
