Anthony Joshua is keeping his return to the boxing ring a mystery, with the announcement likely coming just 48 hours before the fight. Joshua has been out of action since suffering a knockout defeat at the hands of Daniel Dubois at Wembley in September. He is eyeing a warm-up bout before a potential showdown with Tyson Fury next year. There is a possibility that the two-time heavyweight world champion might feature on an upcoming undercard before Christmas, with short notice.
Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed, “We will decide this week on his upcoming fight. If a fight is scheduled for this year, it will be a last-minute reveal. We have been in talks with potential opponents for a warm-up fight, aiming for a relaxed approach where Joshua can simply show up, weigh in, and step into the ring.”
Hearn added, “It would be unconventional but exciting, without the focus on ticket sales. Ideally, he would surprise everyone and deliver a dominant performance.”
Regarding a fight with YouTuber Jake Paul, Hearn mentioned that while discussions have taken place, no formal offer has been made. Joshua is not currently in consideration for a match against Paul. Meanwhile, the highly-anticipated rematch between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn is scheduled for November 15 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Fans can watch the fight on DAZN PPV for £24.99 or enjoy it with a DAZN Ultimate subscription.
Joshua is in search of a new coaching team following his time with Ben Davison. Recently, he visited Oleksandr Usyk’s training camp in Spain as he prepares for the next phase of his career. Joshua has previously trained under various coaches, including Tony Sims, Rob McCracken, Robert Garcia, and Derrick James, before joining Fury’s former stable.
