During his arrival at the venue for his sold-out performance, Lewis, aged 28, crossed paths with Maddi Thurgood, a fan grappling with a rare condition known as SPG15. Maddi, who relies on a wheelchair, was accompanied by her mother and sister, Carina. After posing for a photo with Maddi, Carina handed Lewis a brochure detailing their fundraising campaign aimed at supporting Maddi’s care and medical research.
Shortly afterward, Lewis discreetly donated £5000 to their GoFundMe Campaign. Maddi expressed her overwhelming gratitude, stating, “Today was truly one of the best days of my life. I was at the O2 with my mum and sister when, out of nowhere, Lewis Capaldi stopped to speak to me.”
She recounted the touching interaction, mentioning how Lewis engaged with them and swiftly made a generous contribution to their cause, leaving them in tears at the touching gesture. Maddi went on to commend Lewis, calling him not only her favorite artist but also her hero, for his kindness and the unforgettable memory he had created for her.
In a separate event, Maddi’s mother had informed Lewis about a charity football match scheduled for September 27th. The match will feature notable personalities like Dan Osbourne, Cliff Parisi from Call The Midwife, and Alfie Deegan from EastEnders, among others. The event will be held at Drewitt-Barlow Stadium in Maldon, with donations being collected at the entrance.
