A man has passed away from gunshot injuries, and a woman is currently hospitalized after a shooting incident in a park in the UK.
The Metropolitan Police responded to the scene at Clissold Park, Stoke Newington, north London, around 7 pm. Both victims, a man and a woman in their 40s, received medical attention on-site before being transported to the hospital. Sadly, the man succumbed to his injuries, while the woman’s condition remains unknown.
According to a statement from the Met Police, the shooting occurred at 19:06hrs on Wednesday, 17 September, with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance providing initial treatment to the victims.
Authorities discovered a firearm at the park, which they believe is linked to the incident. Detective Superintendent Oliver Richter, overseeing policing in Hackney and Tower Hamlets, stated that the individuals involved were acquainted and characterized the event as an isolated occurrence.
Richter expressed sympathy for those affected by the incident and assured the public that there is no broader threat. Investigations are ongoing to gather more details, with a designated crime scene and heightened police presence in place to aid the inquiry.
