This cooling trend increases the likelihood of snowfall, particularly in areas of northern England and Scotland, where snowfall is more common towards the end of the year.

The most recent WXCharts maps depict minimal adverse weather conditions in the UK on Christmas Day, with no sign of rain or lingering snowfall in any part of the country, even in the high-altitude regions of Scotland.
Presently, it appears unlikely that the UK will meet the Met Office’s criteria for a White Christmas, as the agency requires the observation of a snowflake falling near any of its weather stations throughout the country. The occurrence of a White Christmas is usually forecasted up to five days in advance, with the last widespread one recorded in 2023 when approximately 11% of weather stations reported snowfall.
