“Perseid Meteor Shower Lights Up Night Sky Worldwide”

The annual Perseid meteor shower occurs when Earth passes through the debris trail left behind by Comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle. This celestial event reached its peak overnight, aligning with a new moon that created excellent viewing conditions for stargazers, as the absence of moonlight did not obstruct the sight of shooting stars. In the early hours of Thursday, Perseid meteor streaks were visible in the sky above Mount Ramon in the Negev Desert, near Mitzpe Ramon, Israel. Meanwhile, individuals observed a meteor streaking across the sky at Visnjan Observatory in Croatia on Wednesday evening. Another meteor was spotted above the Stone Dolls of Kuklica near Kratovo, North Macedonia, also on Thursday. In Serbia, people gathered around the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Mount Avala to witness the Perseid meteor shower. Additionally, a meteor streaked across the night sky above the ancient Illyrian city of Daorson near Stolac in southern Bosnia-Herzegovina. Lastly, a meteor with a green tail, along with the streaks of two satellites, was seen from Jacobsdorf, Germany, during the Perseid meteor shower on Wednesday. In Malta, a Perseid meteor streaked across the night sky behind St. Mark’s Tower, a coastal fortification dating back to the 17th century.
