“Co-operative Bank to Trim Branch Hours in 2026”

The Co-operative Bank plans to reduce operating hours at 40 branches starting next year. Some branches will see a cut in opening times by up to three hours per week beginning January 2026, with 18 branches closing for a day during the workweek.

For instance, the Brighton branch previously operated from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, but will now be open from 9.30am to 2.30pm on weekdays. The Caerphilly branch, which currently runs from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, will have its hours shortened to 10am to 2pm and will be closed on Wednesdays.

The Co-operative Bank, serving 2.5 million customers, announced on its website that the changes are a response to declining branch visits. The bank stated that more customers are opting for mobile, online, or telephone banking services instead.

The bank assures customers that despite reduced branch hours, the branch team will continue to support customers through alternative channels. Additionally, if a branch is closed on a weekday, the nearest branch will remain open.
