“Nestle Introduces Recyclable Paper Tubs for Quality Street Chocolates”

Nestle has announced a significant update to its Quality Street tubs for the second consecutive year. The renowned chocolate manufacturer has revealed that its Quality Street chocolates will be packaged in paper tubs once again, aligning with Nestle’s broader initiative to ensure all its packaging is recyclable by 2025.

Introduced last year, Nestle’s eco-friendly, eight-sided paper tubs received mixed reactions from shoppers. While some expressed a preference for the traditional tins due to their versatility, others welcomed the new design as a positive step forward.

Starting this October, the paper Quality Street tubs will be available for purchase at selected Tesco stores, alongside the continued availability of plastic tubs.

A Nestle spokesperson confirmed that Quality Street will reintroduce paper tubs in certain Tesco outlets this Christmas. The brand remains attentive to consumer feedback and aims to explore innovative ways to enhance the sustainability of its packaging.

In the previous year, over 200,000 paper tubs containing approximately 150 tonnes of Quality Street sweets were distributed to select Tesco stores. Nestle emphasized that the paper tub maintains a luxurious appearance with gold foil accents, features a resealable lid, and can be easily recycled after use.

Quality Street transitioned from colorful plastic wrappers to recyclable paper packaging in 2022. Jemma Handley, Senior Brand Manager for Quality Street, expressed pride in the brand’s pioneering trial of the paper tub concept during the holiday season, emphasizing that the familiar great taste of Quality Street treats remains unchanged.

Cheryl Allen, Head of Sustainability – Confectionery Europe at Nestle, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainable packaging and noted that the introduction of the paper tub reflects ongoing efforts to reduce the use of virgin plastic based on evolving consumer preferences and technological advancements.
