“UK Eligible for Cold Weather Payments as Temperatures Drop”

As temperatures decrease, different regions in the UK may face snow and ice in the upcoming months. This could lead to additional financial support for eligible individuals. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) provides extra funds during winter if temperatures fall below a specific level for a prolonged period.

If the average temperature in your area drops below zero degrees Celsius for more than seven consecutive days, you may receive a payment of £25 for each period of cold weather. Monitoring local temperatures in the coming weeks could determine if you qualify for a Cold Weather Payment.

Specific criteria must be met to be eligible for this benefit. Those on income-related ESA in a work-related activity group or support group, or receiving Universal Credit, may qualify for Cold Weather Payments. Additionally, individuals claiming Universal Credit and not working may also be eligible under certain conditions.

To receive the Cold Weather Payment, there is no need to apply as the scheme is active from November 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026. Eligibility can be checked with the DWP during this period, and payments are made automatically to those who qualify. If payment is not received but expected, contacting the Pension Service, Jobcentre Plus, or managing online Universal Credit accounts is recommended.

Users can also reach out to the Universal Credit helpline for assistance, with contact details available on Universal Credit correspondence.
