“Google Introduces Option for Gmail Users to Change Email Address”

Millions of Gmail users are set to have the option to change their email address to a completely new one. Google had previously hinted at this update, and it now seems to be rolling out globally. In an announcement on its Gmail blog page, Google confirmed that users can switch their Google Account email ending in gmail.com to a new address with the same domain.

This change could be a positive improvement for users who want to alter their username or due to changing circumstances. However, Google noted that this feature is gradually being made available to all users, so it may not be accessible to everyone yet.

Under the new system, both the old and new email addresses can coexist, ensuring that any emails sent to the current Gmail address will be automatically forwarded to the new one. Google reassured users that their account data, including photos, messages, and emails linked to the original address, will remain unaffected.

To check if you are eligible to switch to a new Gmail address without losing your emails, follow these steps:
– Visit myaccount.google.com/google-account-email on your computer and sign in if required.
– Click on Personal info in the top-left corner.
– Select Email, then Google Account email.
– Click on Change Google Account email under “Google Account email.”
– If the option is not visible, it may not be available to you yet.
– Enter a new username that is not currently in use or previously deleted.
– Click on Change email, then confirm by selecting Yes, change email.
– Follow the on-screen instructions provided.

After completing the process, your new Gmail address will become your primary account email, while the old address will serve as an alternate email.
