Samsung Ends Support for Galaxy S21 Series, Urges Users to Upgrade

Samsung has officially ended support for three older models of its Galaxy smartphones, meaning the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra will no longer receive essential software updates. This decision was recently discovered by the TechRadar team, who observed that these models were removed from Samsung’s list of supported devices for security updates. While manufacturers typically provide security patches even after main Android updates cease, the absence of the S21 series from the list implies they will not receive any further system updates. If you own one of these phones released in 2021, it might be time to consider upgrading for enhanced security.

Initially, Samsung had committed to providing four years of Android updates and five years of security updates for the S21 series. However, these commitments have now ended in 2026. In contrast, newer models like the Galaxy S25 offer extended support with seven years of Android and security updates, prolonging the device’s lifespan.

Although the Galaxy S21 FE is still receiving quarterly security updates and is expected to continue for at least another year, users may want to keep an eye out for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, rumored to be announced later this month, possibly around February 25. This new release is anticipated to include enhancements such as a faster processor, improved camera quality, enhanced design, and better battery performance.
