Alanis Morissette has taken legal action against her former tour manager, accusing her of engaging in a deliberate blackmail scheme to falsely implicate Morissette in drug trafficking unless the singer agreed to a lengthy contract. The lawsuit, filed in California, alleges that Keren Urinov threatened to report Morissette to British authorities for drug trafficking unless she hired Urinov as a tour director for 15 years and provided substantial compensation.
Urinov, who previously worked for Live Nation’s Israeli operations, was hired as a temporary tour manager for Morissette’s world tour in 2025. During a trip from the U.K. to Spain for a concert, Urinov was arrested at an airport after a bag she claimed ownership of was flagged by authorities for containing marijuana and xylazine, a non-opioid animal tranquilizer. Despite showing her Israeli medical marijuana license, Urinov was released after questioning.
Following the tour, Urinov allegedly sent a series of threatening letters to Morissette, demanding a fixed 15-year contract with significant financial benefits under the threat of legal action in the U.K. if Morissette did not comply. The lawsuit also highlights instances of alleged mismanagement during the tour, including costly errors and misleading information provided by Urinov.
Morissette, described as “reluctant” to take legal action, stated that she had no choice but to sue in order to expose the blackmail scheme and prevent further coercion. The singer is seeking a trial by jury in the matter. Efforts to reach Urinov and Morissette’s representatives for comment have been unsuccessful.
