A popular streaming app that previously offered free access to a variety of content has officially closed down. Amazon’s Freevee platform, known for providing content without monthly subscription fees, has transitioned its extensive catalog to Prime Video as of September 1. Users can now access Freevee TV shows, movies, and Live TV exclusively through the Prime Video app by logging in with their Amazon account. The Freevee app will remain accessible until August 2025, allowing users to continue enjoying Freevee Originals and a library of hit movies, shows, and live TV on Prime Video at no extra cost. While there are no additional charges, some boxsets and movies may require a Prime subscription or a one-time fee. This shift may encourage Freevee users to consider subscribing to Prime Video or renting movies. Existing Prime Video account holders will benefit from a consolidated browsing experience with access to all Amazon content within a single app.
