Apple has had a hectic week unveiling a range of new products, including the iPhone 17e, upgraded iPad Air, and new MacBook Pro models featuring the latest M5 processors. The tech giant has now introduced the MacBook Neo, a laptop with a more affordable price tag that many were anticipating.
Priced at just £599, the MacBook Neo boasts a vibrant design, impressive performance, and a high-resolution 13-inch screen, making it the first Mac available for under £600. This pricing is significantly lower than the latest MacBook Air, also announced this week.
Powered by Apple’s A18 Pro-series smartphone processor, the Neo may not match the speed of M-powered PCs but is fully capable of meeting daily digital requirements. Running macOS, it offers access to standard applications like Microsoft Word, Pages, and iMovie.
Additionally, the MacBook Neo promises over 15 hours of battery life, features two USB-C ports, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, Touch ID fingerprint scanner, dual side-firing speakers supporting Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos, a Magic Keyboard, and Multi-Touch trackpad. It is available in Silver, Indigo, Blush, and Citrus color options.
Pre-orders for the MacBook Neo are open now, with the product set to hit stores next week. Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, John Ternus, expressed excitement about the laptop, emphasizing its affordability and unique features tailored for a broader audience.
“We’re incredibly excited to introduce MacBook Neo, which delivers the magic of the Mac at a breakthrough price,” said Ternus. “Built to be more affordable for a wider audience, MacBook Neo offers a durable aluminum design in four stunning colors, a brilliant Liquid Retina display, Apple silicon-powered performance, extended battery life, high-quality camera and audio components, and the intuitive macOS experience. There is simply no other laptop like it.”
