In the lead-up to the festive season, Londoners may come across a special display featuring Apple’s iPad technology. The renowned tablet is being utilized to showcase 24 vibrant holiday designs on the iconic towers of Battersea Power Station, a location that Apple also calls its UK home.
These colorful artworks have been selected from numerous submissions received in Apple’s “Your Tree on Battersea” competition, where members of the public could participate. As night falls, the images will illuminate two of the towering chimneys standing 101 meters high above the River Thames.
Expressing her excitement, Varsha Simha, a resident of Canterbury, shared, “I am thrilled to have my design chosen in this competition. My inspiration came from the cozy festive vibes at the Christmas market during the chilly winter months.”
Adding to the joy, 7-year-old winner Miah D.B exclaimed, “I am delighted to be selected. I created this tree on iPad because I enjoy drawing on it, drawing inspiration from emotions.”
Noteworthy personalities like Kylie Minogue, Sir Stephen Fry, Maro Itoje, Oliver Jeffers, David Shrigley OBE, and Chawawa have also contributed their drawings to accompany the winners’ designs.
This event continues Apple’s tradition of celebrating holiday creativity and marks the first time the company has opened such an opportunity to the public.
In past years, artist David Hockney crafted the “Bigger Christmas Trees on iPad Pro” in 2023, and Aardman, the creator of Wallace & Gromit, used iPhone 16 Pro Max for a short animation last year.
Chawawa, reflecting on the significance of hosting Apple’s inaugural iPad Christmas tree competition, said, “It’s a special moment for me as I used to spend weekends at the store, taking photos on an iPad. Leading Your Tree on Battersea now is truly meaningful. I love that we are uniting people nationwide to create Christmas trees on iPad and illuminate them across this great city.”
The festive images will brighten up Battersea from now until Christmas Eve.
