“Apple’s Upgraded AirTag: Easier to Find, Louder Sound”

Apple’s latest AirTag is a must-have for those prone to misplacing keys. These compact trackers, introduced in 2021, have gained popularity for their ability to pinpoint lost items on a map. Due to their small size, AirTags can be attached to keys, placed in bags, laptop cases, or luggage.

When near the tag, your iPhone provides precise on-screen directions and the AirTag emits a sound to aid in locating it. The new AirTag model boasts an upgraded Ultra Wideband chip, offering an enhanced range.

Apple claims this enhancement improves Precision Finding by up to 50%, making it easier to locate lost items from a greater distance. Precision Finding is now compatible with select Apple Watch models, allowing users to track misplaced items directly from their wrist.

Moreover, Apple has enhanced the sound output of the new AirTag with a redesigned internal speaker, making it 50% louder. This feature is ideal for finding the tag when it is hidden under clutter or slipped behind furniture.

AirTags rely on Apple’s extensive Find My network, which utilizes nearby Apple devices to relay location updates anonymously. The system has been revamped with a focus on privacy, ensuring that AirTags do not store location history and all communications with the Find My network are encrypted end-to-end.

The new AirTag seamlessly integrates with Share Item Location, an iOS function enabling users to securely share an item’s location with trusted parties, such as airlines. Apple has partnered with over 50 airlines to support this feature.

The new AirTag can be ordered now from apple.com/uk and the Apple Store app, with in-store availability coming soon. Prices start at £29 for a single AirTag or £99 for a pack of four, making it more affordable than the original version that started at £35.
