Asda has introduced its inaugural fixed price meal deal, priced at £3.74 for a main dish, snack, and beverage. This offer is accessible to all customers without the need for loyalty cards and replaces the previous three for two deal at Asda Food to Go counters.
By opting for this meal deal, shoppers can potentially save up to 50% compared to purchasing the items separately. The selection includes a variety of items such as Asda Chicken and Bacon Sandwich and popular brands like Doritos and Coca Cola Zero.
The set price covers all products in the food to go section, with a wide range of 132 mains, 336 snacks, and 222 drinks available for selection. In addition to larger Asda supermarkets, the meal deal is also on offer at all 478 Asda Express convenience stores.
Amy Wotherspoon, the Buyer of Food to Go at Asda, expressed, “At Asda, we believe in providing great value for everyone. Hence, we are launching the new £3.74 Meal Deal that is open to all customers, offering a diverse range of products to cater to everyone’s preferences.”
Asda shared that their best-selling main dish is the classic Asda Cheese & Onion Sandwich, priced at £1.42, with over 50,000 units sold weekly.
Comparatively, Asda’s new offering is more cost-effective than Tesco’s recent increase in meal deal price from £3.60 to £3.85. Tesco’s meal deal without a Clubcard now stands at £4.25, up from £4.
The premium Tesco meal deal cost has escalated from £5 to £5.50 for Clubcard holders and from £5.50 to £6 for non-members. Sainsbury’s and Morrisons have also raised their meal deal prices, with Sainsbury’s premium option now priced at £5.50 and Morrisons offering a meal deal at £4 for a main, snack, and side.
In other Asda news, the supermarket announced a £180 million investment to revamp 180 in-store cafes. These enhancements will feature digital ordering screens, table service, and a new menu including dishes like smashed avocado on toast, katsu chicken curry, salad bowls, wraps, nachos, and loaded fries.
Additionally, Asda pizzas will be part of the updated menu, offering a choice of 12″ pizzas or individual slices in various flavors like margherita, pepperoni, and veggie supreme.
