The 2026 Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony featured notable figures such as former NBA player Jamaal Magloire, ex-Carleton Ravens men’s head coach Dave Smart, and Olympic flag-bearer Miranda Ayim. Magloire, who played 12 seasons in the NBA and was the first Canadian to play for the Toronto Raptors in 2011, achieved all-star status with the New Orleans Hornets in 2004. Additionally, he contributed as an assistant coach for the Raptors during their championship season in 2018-19 and currently holds the position of vice-president for the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League.
Smart’s tenure as head coach at Carleton University led to the team’s dominance, securing 13 U Sports championships under his leadership. Ayim, known for her role as captain of Canada’s senior women’s national basketball team, shared the honor of being Canada’s co-flag-bearer at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 alongside rugby sevens player Nathan Hirayama.
The 2026 inductees were unveiled on July 2, comprising players Michael Meeks, Anna Stammberger, Dan Meagher, and Teresa Kleindienst, coaches Peter (Doc) Ryan and official Janice Deakin, as well as builder Dr. Andrew Pipe. The 10-member class will be enshrined at a ceremony in St. Stephen, N.B.
