Gary Anderson’s perspective differs from the rankings when it comes to Luke Littler’s status as the top player globally. Littler, who made a splash at the 2024 Darts World Championships, has been on a remarkable journey, securing victories at various prestigious events like the UK Open, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, and the Premier League.
Despite his impressive track record, Littler finds himself trailing behind Luke Humphries in the world rankings, with Humphries having amassed £1,769,000 in prize money over the past year compared to Littler’s £1,697,000. However, Littler remains optimistic about potentially claiming the top spot before the upcoming world championships.
When asked about the best player in the world, Gary Anderson unequivocally pointed to Luke Humphries as the world No. 1. Anderson also highlighted Michael van Gerwen as the standout player in Europe outside of the UK.
Littler, acknowledging the gap between himself and the top spot, expressed his determination to keep pushing forward towards his goal. With the world championship approaching in December at Alexandra Palace, Littler aims to build momentum to enhance his chances of success.
As Littler prepares for the championship, the final list of opponents he may face will only be revealed later this month, with the draw expected shortly after the final qualifiers are confirmed on November 24.
