Hollywood executives are currently engaged in a fierce competition to develop a biographical film about the iconic musician, David Bowie, offering an in-depth exploration of his life, including his personal relationships and rise to stardom.
Suzi Ronson, the spouse of Mick Ronson, who was a close collaborator of Bowie, disclosed that her memoir, “Me And Mr Jones: My Life With David Bowie And The Spiders From Mars,” is being adapted into a high-budget production. Released last year, the book has now attracted interest for a potential cinematic adaptation, with Suzi expressing her hopes for a successful transition to the big screen.
Speaking at the inaugural Ziggyfest Bowie fan gathering, Suzi expressed her anticipation regarding the outcome of the movie rights bidding process. She eagerly shared, “The book has been optioned for a major motion picture. Although it has not been secured yet, we are optimistic that a compelling movie capturing the essence of the Ziggy Stardust era and his ascent to fame will come to fruition.”
The upcoming film is set to delve into her brief romantic encounter with the music legend, which occurred while he was still married to his first wife, Angie. Recalling the incident, Suzi recounted, “The bedroom in his residence was adorned in pink with a gilded ceiling. Despite perceptions of his sexuality, I was intrigued by him. I believe Angie orchestrated the situation.”
She elaborated, “I visited her to style her hair on a Wednesday, and she mentioned having a date that evening. Subsequently, David invited me to his place for a hair session. After a lovely meal in London, he charmed me. David was possessive in his own way and displayed flamboyance in that aspect.”
Renowned for crafting David Bowie’s iconic Ziggy Stardust appearance, Suzi divulged the creative process behind the transformation. Reflecting on the origins of the distinctive orange spiked hair, she shared, “He showed me a picture of a woman with spiked hair and asked if I could replicate it. Despite it being a hairstyle typically associated with women, I managed to achieve the look using an unusual method involving a hair product called Guard, which set the hair in place like stone.”
Describing the impact of the vibrant red hair, she remarked, “With that striking red hair, he looked extraordinary. He embodied the essence of Ziggy Stardust. Bowie and the band garnered adoration from female fans for their flamboyant glam rock ensembles.”
