Disney+ has announced a special discount on its subscription fees to compete with streaming giants like Netflix and HBO Max. The promotion offers new and eligible returning subscribers the chance to access Disney+ for just £3.99 per month for three months.
The regular price for the Standard with Ads tier is £5.99 per month, so customers can essentially get a three-month subscription for the cost of two under this offer. However, the deal has a deadline, and interested customers must sign up for Disney+ by May 6 to take advantage of this reduced rate.
Those who subscribe before the deadline will lock in the £3.99 monthly rate for three months. This makes Disney+ the most affordable major streaming service compared to the basic plans of competitors like Netflix (£5.99), Prime Video (£5.99), HBO Max (£4.99), and Apple TV (£9.99).
After the initial three-month promotional period, the subscription will automatically renew at the standard rate of £5.99 unless cancelled. The £3.99 offer is valid for customers aged 18 and above for an ad-supported plan, with options to upgrade to the ad-free Disney+ Standard for £6.99 (previously £9.99) or Disney+ Premium for £9.99 (previously £14.99).
The pricier plans offer additional benefits such as higher picture quality up to 4K UHD and HDR, Dolby Atmos support, and up to four simultaneous streams. In a related development, Sky has recently started offering a free Disney+ subscription as part of its Ultimate TV bundle, which also includes Netflix and HBO Max.
Disney+ subscriptions now start at £5.99 per month and provide access to popular series like Rivals, Only Murders in the Building, and The Bear, along with a vast library of content from Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and more.
This package costing £24 per month includes free streaming subscriptions valued at around £240 annually, as well as access to 135 channels such as Sky Atlantic. Disney+ is gearing up for the second season of Rivals, a well-received drama starring David Tennant that premiered last year and is set to return with new episodes.
The upcoming Dame Jilly Cooper adaptation will be released in two six-part segments, commencing with a three-episode debut on May 15. It joins a lineup of new releases currently available for streaming, including The Testaments, a dystopian drama set in the world of The Handmaid’s Tale, and the second part of the conspiracy-thriller Paradise.
Several fan-favorite shows have made a comeback this year, including Scrubs and Malcolm in the Middle, both launching on Disney+ with new series after a hiatus. These titles are featured alongside numerous movies and series from Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar, such as Daredevil: Born Again and Maul – Shadow Lord.
Reality TV enthusiasts can also find content on Disney+, like Raising Chelsea, which follows Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo as they navigate parenthood. The platform has become synonymous with globally popular franchises and has garnered positive reviews on Trustpilot.
One satisfied subscriber commented, “I’ve been using Disney+ since its UK launch, and I find the experience constantly improving. The content library is extensive, offering something for both me and my family, be it a series or a movie.”
Another user expressed, “I’ve always enjoyed Disney+, and while it may not have the widest range of content, what it does have is of high quality and easy to watch. The affordability factor is also a plus.”
However, not all users are completely satisfied, as one reviewer noted, “There are too many ads during show playback. Satellite TV had fewer commercials.”
On a positive note, another five-star review praised the platform, stating, “Great selection, helpful support, and easy cancellation process if needed. Navigating the site is user-friendly, and their transparency and openness should serve as a model for others.”
