A couple’s vision of a perfect home turned into a disturbing experience when they stumbled upon a series of unusual findings hidden within the walls of their property. Kaija Bretzius, a mother of three, purchased the residence in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, with her husband Bryan, believing it required minimal renovation.
Initially, the couple was content with the property’s condition as they were not looking to invest heavily in home improvements due to budget constraints. However, as Bryan began inspecting the insulation within the semi-detached house, they uncovered unsettling truths about their new residence.
While exploring the attic to assess the insulation, Bryan discovered old bottles hidden within the walls. Among the findings were vintage pornographic magazines from the 1980s, followed by a more disturbing revelation.
Further exploration of the wall cavities revealed an unexpected item wrapped in a burlap sack. Initially fearing the worst, Kaija suspected a possible grim discovery, reflecting on previous incidents of infant remains found in neighboring properties. However, the reality was less sinister but equally peculiar – a chicken carcass carefully concealed within the wall.
Subsequent investigations exposed a total of around 20 chicken carcasses and various small animal remains, some dating back to the 1920s and 1930s. Unfortunately, handling the decaying animal carcasses led to health complications for Kaija and Bryan, causing illness and fever for several days.
Speculating on the origins of the macabre findings, Kaija suggested the possibility of an occult ritual involving the animal remains, possibly related to “pow-wow” or Dutch magic practices. The couple’s shock was compounded by the unexpected financial burden of having to completely reconstruct the walls of their home, costing them $20,000 thus far.
Kaija expressed her belief that the ritualistic activities were conducted over an extended period, indicating a gradual buildup of occult layers within the walls. Stories from the town’s older residents hinted at the previous tenant’s reputation as a healer using magic to cure ailments like fevers and whooping cough.
Despite efforts to eradicate the remnants of the past, Kaija still senses a lingering malevolence within her home, manifested by a persistent foul odor. The historical significance of the occult artifacts discovered has been preserved in a local museum, although the hazardous nature of the desiccated animal remains may prevent their public display.
