“Elon Musk Faces Calls for Parliamentary Testimony”

Elon Musk has been accused of criminal behavior for neglecting child safety online, according to Keir Starmer. Sir Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats, is calling for the world’s wealthiest individual to testify before Members of Parliament following his remarks at a rally organized by Tommy Robinson, where he warned of impending violence in the UK.

During an interview with Sky News, Musk, the owner of the X social media platform, was questioned about his criminal status. Starmer emphasized Musk’s actions, such as inciting violence and predicting a civil war in the country, as well as allowing harmful content like self-harm promotion and child exploitation on his platform, and called for accountability.

Musk recently participated in a rally led by Tommy Robinson, where he stirred controversy by urging the audience to resist or face violence. Sir Ed is expected to criticize Musk’s interference in democracy for personal gain at a party conference, highlighting the need for Musk to take responsibility for the harm caused by his platform, especially to children.

In response to the ongoing social media dispute between Sir Ed and Musk, the Liberal Democrat leader has requested an Ofcom investigation into X and Musk for failing to comply with the Online Safety Act. The party plans to introduce a motion in Parliament upon its return, aiming to summon Musk to answer for his actions at the rally.

This parliamentary power, rarely used, would compel Musk to appear at the House of Commons bar for public scrutiny. Such authority has not been exercised for decades, last applied to a non-MP in 1957.
