Emma Raducanu has achieved one of her seasonal targets as the WTA Tour season concludes. The British tennis prodigy ended her season prematurely in October due to health issues.
Raducanu’s season was a mix of highs and lows. While she secured notable wins at Wimbledon and the US Open, reclaiming her status as Britain’s top player, she faced fitness challenges towards the end. Her struggles became apparent at the Ningbo Open, where she required medical attention and lost in the first round.
As a result of these difficulties, Raducanu decided to end her season early but confirmed her plan to continue working with coach Francisco Roig in 2026. This choice jeopardized her goal of being seeded at the Australian Open.
The 22-year-old withdrew from her last two tournaments of the year ranked 29th, casting doubt on her aspiration to be in the top 32. Without earning additional ranking points, she awaited confirmation of achieving this milestone.
With the season now concluded, Raducanu finished the year as the world No. 29. Barring a challenging start in 2026, she is likely to be seeded in Melbourne.
In early October, Raducanu had set her sights on being seeded at the Australian Open, emphasizing the importance of a higher ranking for favorable tournament draws. She also stressed the significance of being a role model and maintaining a positive attitude on and off the court.
Raducanu is currently the sole British player within the top 32 of the WTA rankings. The year’s top spot was claimed by Aryna Sabalenka, followed by Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff at second and third positions, respectively. Amanda Anisimova rounded off the top 4 rankings.
