Police are currently investigating whether there was an accomplice assisting Tyler Robinson, the suspected killer of Charlie Kirk. The FBI is examining new footage that purportedly shows the accused gunman discussing the shooting on a doorbell camera shortly after Kirk was fatally shot at a rally in Utah Valley University. This footage has raised concerns about potential assistance in the murder or if others were aware of the incident but remained silent.
A nearby family provided the police with the footage showing a man walking past their house and talking on the phone about the shooting just minutes after it occurred. Robinson, 22, was apprehended two days after Kirk, a right-wing activist and ally of Donald Trump, was shot at the event. Following the shooting, Kirk was taken to the hospital in critical condition and sadly passed away. Robinson’s father, a former law enforcement official, turned his son over to the authorities.
After being confronted by his father, Robinson admitted to the killing but expressed a reluctance to surrender. He was encouraged to speak with a youth minister, who is also affiliated with the US Marshals Service, and later contacted the FBI. Governor Cox mentioned that Robinson had become more politically active in recent years and had discussed Kirk’s visit to Utah with his family. The Governor added that Robinson had negative opinions about Kirk’s views.
Authorities discovered a gun near the scene wrapped in a towel, along with bullet casings engraved with various inscriptions. Governor Cox disclosed that some of the inscriptions included messages like “Hey fascist! Catch!”, “o bella ciao, bella ciao”, and “if you read this you are gay lmao”.
Erika, Kirk’s grieving wife, shared how she explained her husband’s absence to their three-year-old daughter, saying that he was on a work trip with Jesus. She also posted tributes to her late husband on Instagram, including a photo of herself beside his casket.
In a video message from the Oval Office, President Trump referred to Kirk as a “martyr for truth and freedom” and criticized the demonization of political adversaries while attributing Kirk’s assassination to the rhetoric of the radical left.
State records indicate that Robinson’s parents, Matthew Carl Robinson and Amber Denise Robinson, are registered Republicans.
