Former Premier League Goalkeeper Russell Hoult Battling Terminal Illnesses

Former Premier League goalkeeper Russell Hoult is currently under palliative care after being diagnosed with two terminal illnesses. Hoult, aged 52, had a successful career playing for Leicester, Derby, Notts County, Portsmouth, and West Brom across England’s top four divisions for over 20 years, making 141 appearances in the Premier League.

In 2023, Hoult was diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis, followed by stage four bile duct cancer in 2024, both of which are now considered terminal. His children, Kayleigh and Carter, aged 24, are participating in the Leicester Half Marathon to raise funds for AMMF – The Cholangiocarcinoma Charity. Kayleigh shared on a Just Giving page about her father’s health challenges and the family’s effort to support him and others facing similar diseases.

The fundraising page has already garnered £7,089 from 322 donors. Kayleigh expressed gratitude for the support and highlighted her father’s positive attitude and humor amidst the difficulties. She described him as a strong and humorous individual, emphasizing his resilience and determination to keep fighting.
