International captain Geoff Ogilvy has selected two Canadian golfers, Corey Conners from Listowel, Ontario, and Nick Taylor from Abbotsford, British Columbia, for the upcoming Presidents Cup. Adding to his team, Ogilvy also included Ryo Hisatsune, marking the first instance since 1998 that the International team will feature two Japanese players, with Hideki Matsuyama securing one of the six automatic spots.
On the U.S. side, Jackson Koivun has been named to the Presidents Cup team, making his debut just three months after departing Auburn. Koivun, who clinched victory at the 3M Open in only his third professional start and earned a spot in the PGA Tour postseason after just five tournaments, becomes the first player since Jordan Spieth in 2013 to begin a year without a tour card and compete in the prestigious event.
U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker also chose Jacob Bridgeman, a winner at Riviera this year, for the team. Despite Ryan Gerard’s strong performance at the Tour Championship where he finished third and ranked 22nd globally, Snedeker opted for Bridgeman.
The Presidents Cup is scheduled for September 24-27 at Medinah, a course that has undergone a complete renovation by Ogilvy’s golf course design company based in Australia.
