Irish Filly She’s Quality Dies After Breeders’ Cup Injury

Irish sprinter She’s Quality tragically passed away in a hospital following a pelvic fracture sustained during the Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar, California. The talented four-year-old filly, trained by Jack Davison based in Dunboyne, Co Meath, had an impressive track record, earning over £250,000 and achieving four second-place finishes in Group races in 2025.

She had been a promising contender for the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, but her race ended abruptly as she fell to the back of the 13-horse field. Jockey Colin Keane made the decision to pull her up on the back stretch as the rest of the field pushed ahead.

After being dismounted, veterinarians attended to She’s Quality behind screens. Breeders’ Cup veterinarian Dr. Scott Hay noted the concern shown by the jockey during the race and the decision to halt her run as a precaution due to signs of hind lameness.

Despite initial hopes for her recovery, She’s Quality’s condition deteriorated, and she was humanely euthanized due to the severity of her pelvic fracture. Davison expressed deep sadness over the loss of his stable star, acknowledging the care she had received and the impact she had made during her time with the team.

The Breeders’ Cup also shared their condolences, recognizing the impact of She’s Quality’s passing on the horse racing community.
