“Jessica Camilleri Faces New Charges for Attacking Prison Guard”

A convict, already serving time for the brutal murder of her mother, faced a new court appearance following a violent incident. Jessica Camilleri, infamous for her heinous crime, is now confronting additional charges for assaulting a prison guard, potentially extending her current prison sentence. Camilleri, residing in Sydney, received a lengthy prison term of 16-and-a-half years for the gruesome killing of her mother in 2019. Despite being acquitted of murder due to severe mental illness, she was found guilty of manslaughter for the savage stabbing and mutilation of her mother.

This recent incident is not the first time Camilleri has displayed violent behavior while incarcerated. She has a history of assaulting officers, resulting in additional jail time being added to her sentence. The latest court appearance comes shortly after she was charged with attacking prison staff at Long Bay Correctional Centre. This marks the fourth instance of such charges during her time in prison. Camilleri admitted to one count of assaulting a law enforcement officer and causing bodily harm but pleaded not guilty to a similar charge involving a different officer.

In previous incidents in 2022 and 2021, Camilleri had pleaded guilty to assaulting law enforcement officers, resulting in actual bodily harm. Surveillance footage presented in court showed her aggressively attacking prison guards. She had previously been sentenced to jail time for similar offenses, including an incident where she assaulted two female guards at a different correctional facility. Camilleri’s behavior behind bars, including repeated assaults on correctional officers, has raised concerns. She is scheduled to appear in court again on October 22.
