Julia Stiles Pays Emotional Tribute to Heath Ledger on “Dancing with the Stars”

During the recent live dedication show of “Dancing with the Stars,” Julia Stiles honored her former co-star Heath Ledger from the movie “10 Things I Hate About You.” Stiles, accompanied by her partner Ezra Sosa, performed a contemporary routine to the song “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Frankie Valli, reminiscent of a scene where Ledger’s character serenades Stiles in the movie.

In a pre-performance video, Stiles expressed her genuine admiration for Ledger, recalling the charm he exuded during their time filming together. Despite feeling saddened by Ledger’s passing, Stiles reminisced about the special memories they shared and expressed a desire to replicate his zest for life.

The dance concluded with a poignant moment as Sosa left Stiles on the dance floor, and her iconic monologue from the movie played alongside a photo of her and Ledger. Stiles then placed a rose under the photo before being joined by her “10 Things” co-stars for a heartwarming finale.

Reflecting on the performance, Stiles shared with host Julianne Hough her journey from being a 17-year-old to her present self, emphasizing Ledger’s ability to bring out the best in those around him and create a playful atmosphere.

Ledger, who tragically passed away in 2008 at the age of 28, received a posthumous Oscar for his role as the Joker in “The Dark Knight.” Stiles and Sosa received their highest score of the season, earning nines across the board for their emotional tribute.

The show also featured other touching tributes, including Tatyana Ali honoring her late “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” co-star James Avery. Ali, joined by her partner Jan Ravnik, performed a Viennese waltz to the song “(You Don’t Know) How Glad I Am” by Nancy Wilson, dedicated to Avery, who played Uncle Phil on the sitcom.

The evening was filled with emotional performances paying homage to loved ones and former colleagues, highlighting the sentimental and heartfelt nature of the show.
