Kate Lawler Reveals Financial Worries Despite Lavish Vacations

Kate Lawler has revealed that despite splurging up to £1,000 daily on vacations, she still worries about her finances. The 45-year-old television personality, who gained fame by winning the third season of Big Brother in 2002 and earning £70,000 at the time, shared that success isn’t all glitz and glamour as she continues to grapple with money concerns.

Following numerous career opportunities, Kate was hit with a substantial tax bill that threw her life into disarray. Discussing her financial struggles, she disclosed that she faced an £80,000 tax bill a few years after her Big Brother victory. The TV star confessed that the staggering bill significantly set her back, taking over two years to clear her debt.

Despite now being in a more stable financial situation, thanks to her financially prudent husband Martin Bojtos, Kate admitted she still frets about meeting expenses. “I worry about making ends meet now, even though I feel like I’m more financially stable than ever before,” she confessed.

Reflecting on her past financial woes, Kate disclosed to The Times, “I didn’t have any disposable income, and whatever I earned went towards paying off my taxes and credit card debts. My money was tied up in my property. Now, I fear that could happen again. I always worry.”

While cautious with money presently, the family doesn’t hold back on their annual vacations, enjoying a lavish road trip each year. Kate estimated their holiday expenditure, stating, “We calculated it recently, and I believe our holidays, including expenses, transportation, and lodging, typically cost around £1,000 a day. But it’s an experience we’ll always cherish.”

After her financial challenges, Kate no longer owns a credit card and relies on her property to secure her future. Although she doesn’t currently have a pension, she expressed a desire for one and hopes her husband’s pension will aid in their retirement planning.

Following her success on Big Brother, Kate ventured into a DJ role on Capital FM, leading to hosting the short-lived Channel Four breakfast show RI:SE from February to December 2003, after which she departed from Capital.

Presently, Kate frequently appears on This Morning and Loose Women, and in 2022, her book Maybe Baby: On the Mother Side, achieved bestseller status on the Sunday Times list.

Recently, Kate experienced a mishap on live TV in June when she suffered a painful hammock injury. While on an ITV show, she attempted to sit on a hammock but tumbled off, amusing the viewers and crew. Despite hurting her ankle, Kate maintained her composure and humor throughout the incident.
