Journalist Owen Jones has been asked to leave the Labour conference due to safety concerns, according to the party.
A supporter of Jeremy Corbyn, Jones criticized Labour for its actions, likening them to those of former U.S. President Donald Trump. He expressed surprise at having his conference pass revoked for the first time.
In a statement on X, Jones condemned Labour’s decision, labeling it as “Trumpian behavior” and accusing the party of trying to stifle questions regarding Britain’s involvement in supporting acts against Israel. He emphasized his long-standing practice of filming videos at both Labour and Tory conferences to hold ministers accountable.
Responding to Jones, the Labour party defended its actions, stating that the decision was made in the interest of safeguarding all conference attendees. The party emphasized its commitment to ensuring a safe environment for everyone present.
Despite being removed from the current conference, Jones will have the opportunity to reapply for a pass in the upcoming years.
