Calum Miller, the party’s foreign affairs head, criticized Farage as a prominent supporter of Trump and accused him of aligning with aggressors rather than prioritizing Britain’s welfare. Miller labeled Farage as a “shallow patriot” who recently belittled Britain during a visit to the US.
Miller emphasized the need to shield British politics from figures like Farage, who he believes are eyeing the top political position for personal gain rather than the nation’s benefit. He also stressed the importance of upholding British values and resisting any regression fueled by individuals like Farage who seem to draw inspiration from Trump’s policies.
Sir Ed Davey, another prominent figure within the Liberal Democrat party, echoed Miller’s concerns, warning about the potential setbacks to British values if Farage gains significant power. Davey hinted at the possibility of forming alliances, even with rival political parties, to prevent Farage from gaining substantial influence. He highlighted the current threats to democracy and core British principles, urging a united front against any ideologies that may jeopardize the country’s progress.
