“Manchester Derby Alert Causes M60 Chaos”

Traffic disruptions occurred on the M60 due to a police incident causing significant delays in both directions during a notable Manchester derby alert. The motorway closure at Junction 23 in Ashton-under-Lyne, along with the shutdown of Manchester Road, was reported just before 3 pm.

An official announcement from the Manchester City support group on social media stated the closure between Junctions 23 and 22 anticlockwise on the M60 and the closure of Manchester Road in both directions due to the police incident near Manchester Road in Ashton under Lyne. Commuters heading to the Etihad Stadium were advised to allow extra travel time and consider alternative routes to avoid extensive delays.

The National Highways confirmed the reopening of the M60 in both directions, following a Greater Manchester Police-led incident at Junction 23 in Ashton-under-Lyne. However, travelers were cautioned to expect delays of around 15 minutes in both directions.

A Bee Network spokesperson had previously alerted the public to anticipate delays due to the police incident at Junction 23 of the M60 near Manchester Road in Ashton under Lyne, leading to closures on the M60 between Junctions 23 and 22 anticlockwise, as well as the closure of Manchester Road in both directions.

The M60 experienced traffic congestion in both directions following the police incident, causing inconvenience to commuters.
