Mitchum Deodorant Recalled After User Complaints

Deodorant maker Mitchum has advised consumers to check the batch numbers on its products, aiming to pull them from shelves following reports of customer injuries. The company issued an apology in response to complaints of users experiencing “painful” and “itchy” rashes in their underarms from using their deodorants, urging affected individuals to discontinue use immediately.

Users have taken to platforms like TikTok and others, sharing videos and images of irritated armpits after using certain roll-on deodorants from the brand. While some speculated about ingredient changes, Mitchum clarified that the issue stemmed from a modification in the manufacturing process of one of its raw materials.

The company acknowledged reports of temporary irritation from specific batches of the Mitchum 48-hour 100ml roll-on deodorant sold in the UK, Ireland, and South Africa. Despite the delay in investigating the matter, Mitchum expressed regret for the impact on affected customers.

Following an Instagram statement addressing the issue, Mitchum faced swift criticism from dissatisfied customers recounting severe skin reactions. Some customers voiced their frustration, emphasizing the seriousness of their skin reactions and expressing their decision to no longer purchase Mitchum products.

Mitchum admitted that the manufacturing change had affected how the product interacted with some users’ skin, falling short of both their standards and consumer expectations. The company assured consumers that affected batches could be identified by checking the batch number on the product, emphasizing that only specific items were impacted, not the entire product range.

Assuring that the problem had been resolved, Mitchum stated they were actively working to remove the remaining affected products from shelves. They encouraged consumers experiencing issues to contact their Customer Care team for assistance and emphasized the importance of discontinuing use of the product immediately.

For assistance or further information, consumers experiencing issues were advised to reach out to Mitchum’s Customer Care team via email or phone.
