Thames Valley Police intervened with an advertising van featuring a picture of Donald Trump alongside Jeffrey Epstein, a well-known sex offender, in Windsor during the US President’s state visit. The group responsible for the van, Everyone Hates Elon, claimed that the police seized the vehicle, but the authorities clarified that it was only stopped for a potential traffic violation.
The activists, who recently unveiled a large banner displaying the controversial photo near Windsor Castle, expressed their intention to continually remind Trump of his association with Epstein. Video footage captured a police officer driving away with the ad van as it circled Windsor.
A spokesperson for Everyone Hates Elon criticized the influence of US figures like Elon Musk and Donald Trump in the UK, highlighting concerns about their impact on the country. They emphasized Trump’s connections to Epstein and criticized his visit to the UK, coinciding with Musk’s appearance at a far-right event in London.
Thames Valley Police stated that they stopped the van due to potential traffic infractions and emphasized the heightened security measures in place during the state visit. No arrests were made, and the vehicle was not impounded.
Earlier in the week, four activists were arrested after projecting the contentious image onto Windsor Castle. Trump’s visit overlapped with the dismissal of US Ambassador Peter Mandelson over revelations of his ties to Epstein.
Trump has faced persistent scrutiny regarding his relationship with Epstein, with speculation of a cover-up among some of his supporters. The President has denied being close to the disgraced financier, despite previous statements praising Epstein’s social life preferences.
The White House refuted claims that Trump was involved in a distasteful note found in Epstein’s possessions, reiterating that the President did not draw the accompanying illustration. Trump’s past comments about Epstein continue to fuel public debate about his association with the convicted sex offender.
