SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets to their face value. According to the province’s consumer protection website, the latest fines imposed on the ticket resale platform amount to a total of $22,500.
One of the fines, totaling $15,000, was issued for purportedly offering a ticket for sale or facilitating the sale of a seat above the permitted resale price. The second fine, amounting to $7,500, was imposed for allegedly not disclosing the full ticket price when a seat was bought from an initial seller.
Neither the province nor SeatGeek Canada has promptly addressed inquiries regarding the specific events that led to the fines or whether the company intends to challenge the penalties. In a similar vein, the province had previously fined the company $25,000 in August for comparable violations.
