Canadian actor Simu Liu, known for his role in Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” has recently gotten married to music industry executive Allison Hsu. The couple tied the knot over the weekend, as confirmed by Liu’s publicist to CBC News on Tuesday. The celebrations were first reported by TMZ in France.
Liu and Hsu publicly announced their engagement in May 2025 during a trip to Paris, and have since shared updates from wedding-related events in Mexico and a visit to Paris. They have been transparent about their relationship on social media and in interviews, expressing mutual support and love for each other.
Originally from China and raised in Toronto, Liu is set to reprise his role as Shang-Chi in the upcoming Marvel film “Avengers: Doomsday.” His portrayal of the Marvel superhero has propelled him to global recognition, following his success in the CBC comedy “Kim’s Convenience.”
In addition to his Marvel role, Liu has been involved in various projects, such as playing Ken in the blockbuster “Barbie,” voice acting in the animated film “In Your Dreams,” and starring in the spy thriller series “The Copenhagen Test.” He also made his Broadway debut in the Tony-winning comedy “Oh, Mary!” earlier this year, showcasing his theatrical background.
During a discussion with The National’s Ian Hanomansing, Liu addressed the need for more Asian representation in leading roles in Hollywood, highlighting the challenges posed by traditional and conservative mindsets in the industry.
