“Sikh Woman Targeted in Racially-Motivated Assault”

An alleged perpetrator hurled a derogatory remark at a young Sikh woman during a racially-charged sexual assault incident. The victim, a British-born woman in her 20s, was attacked by two white men while on her way to work in the Tame Road area of Oldbury, West Midlands. The Sikh Federation (UK) reported that one of the assailants verbally abused her, saying, “you don’t belong in this country, get out.”

The assault occurred between 8am and 8.30am on September 9, with a suspect in his 30s taken into custody by West Midlands Police on Sunday night. Chief Superintendent Kim Madill commended the community for their support, emphasizing the ongoing nature of the investigation and urging against speculation.

The victim, still grappling with the traumatic experience, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received from her community and family. She emphasized the importance of finding and holding those responsible accountable to prevent similar incidents in the future.
