Recent UK weather forecasts indicate that snow is expected to hit three UK regions in the upcoming days.
Despite a warm spell in the southern part of the country, a shift to colder weather is anticipated for November. Meteorologists at WX Charts have identified areas in England, Scotland, and Wales that may experience snowfall. The weather charts display shades of purple, white, and blue, signaling the incoming colder conditions, with predictions of up to 56cm of snow in certain areas by around November 17.
The regions expected to be hit the hardest by snow include north-west England, North Wales, and most of Scotland. Particularly, parts of the Scottish Highlands could see significant snowfall amounts, with forecasts mentioning 56cm of snow. Additionally, Edinburgh and Glasgow might experience around 3cm of snow accumulation.
Anticipated snowfall amounts include up to 3cm in parts of North Wales and 6cm in North Yorkshire on the morning of November 17. Cumbria and areas near Greater Manchester could also see snow accumulation, ranging from 3cm to 5cm.
Looking ahead, the Met Office’s extended forecast suggests a trend towards colder weather in the latter part of November.
In the forecast period spanning November 11-20, the Met Office stated: “The initial phase is likely to bring unsettled and mild weather with rain affecting various parts of the UK, particularly the western and southern regions. Strong winds may accompany the rain at times. However, some drier intervals are expected, predominantly in the east and possibly the north.
“Clear skies and light winds overnight could lead to frost and fog, persisting until late morning. Towards mid-month, a shift to drier conditions is probable across the UK, accompanied by slightly cooler temperatures overall and a heightened risk of frost overnight.”
This weather update follows recent projections indicating a potential snow freeze lasting 92 hours and frigid Arctic temperatures as low as -6C.
WX Charts maps from November 15 onwards show snowfall expected in the Midlands, north-west England, and Scotland, with temperatures forecasted to drop to -2C in the Scottish Highlands.
Snow is also predicted in Wales and the north-west of England by November 16. By November 17, snowfall is expected to settle in regions from Scotland to Cumbria and Snowdonia in Wales, with temperatures plummeting to as low as -5 and -6C.
Temperatures could drop further to -5C in Ireland, mid-Wales, and Scotland by November 18, with the freezing conditions persisting until November 19.
