“Snow Blankets UK as Met Office Issues Severe Weather Warnings”

Snowfall has been observed in London today. Recent pictures depict snow falling in Queen’s Park, North West London, as well as in Northholt. Piers Morgan shared a video showing snowfall in West London.

This occurrence follows the issuance of multiple weather warnings for snow and ice by the Met Office across the UK. An amber alert has been issued for parts of Yorkshire and the North East, where up to 25cm (10 inches) of snow could accumulate.

The Met Office has forecasted temperatures as low as -11C in certain parts of Scotland overnight on Thursday. This severe weather is anticipated to cause disruptions on roads nationwide.

Neil Armstrong, the Chief Forecaster at the Met Office, stated, “Cold Arctic air from the north is dominating the UK’s weather, ushering in the first significant cold spell of the autumn and introducing early winter weather. Consequently, winter-related hazards are expected over the next few days, with snow and ice posing significant risks, especially on Wednesday and Thursday.”

The weather agency has warned of wintry showers affecting exposed areas to the brisk northerly wind, particularly Northern Ireland, southwest Wales, southwest England, northeast England, and the northern regions of Scotland.

Weather models indicate widespread snow coverage across the country by tomorrow morning, with the heaviest snowfall anticipated in Scotland and northern England, while the Midlands and southern England are forecasted to receive minimal snow accumulation.

According to the BBC Weather forecast, today will see rain and hill sleet clearing in the south-east, with sunny intervals expected for many regions. However, windy conditions with sleet and snow showers are predicted in north Scotland, Northern Ireland, and coastal areas.

Tonight, most parts of the UK will be dry and clear, except for northern Scotland, Northern Ireland, and western and eastern coasts where wintry showers are likely. Tomorrow is expected to remain cold and windy with sleet and snow showers in specific regions, while other areas will experience dry conditions with sunshine.
