“Starmer Commemorates Battle of Britain Heroes”

Keir Starmer reflects on the Battle of Britain anniversary as a reminder of shared values that unite us. The Prime Minister is set to attend the commemoration at Westminster Abbey this Sunday, marking 85 years since the WWII victory. Following the ceremony, he will witness the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast, typically featuring an Avro Lancaster heavy bomber, a Supermarine Spitfire, and a Hawker Hurricane.

In an interview with the Mirror, Starmer emphasized the importance of honoring the Battle of Britain heroes who defended the nation’s skies, freedoms, and future against immense challenges. He highlighted their courage as a symbol of national unity and determination, underscoring the enduring values of duty, sacrifice, and solidarity that define Britain at its best.

The event will see the PM meeting various dignitaries including the Dean of Westminster, Squadron Leader Charlie Warden, the Lord Lieutenant of Greater London, and the Chief of the Air Staff. Marshal of the Royal Air Force, The Lord Craig, the only living officer in the British Armed Forces to have held a five-star rank on active duty, will also be present.
