“Storm Claudia’s Fury: Trees Topple, Homes Damaged”

Residents were startled by a loud noise akin to a bomb explosion during the storm named Claudia. The commotion ensued as a massive tree toppled onto a property in Tameside, prompting the evacuation of three individuals inside the house. Similarly, an Elm tree situated within the premises of Milton St John’s Primary school in Mossley succumbed to the strong winds, crashing into a row of terraced houses late at night.

The fallen tree inflicted notable damage, including a punctured roof and a leaning gable wall, as confirmed by the property’s landlord, Danny Wilco, who shared that three adults were present during the incident. Upon hearing the deafening sound, they quickly alerted the property owner and emergency services, who promptly arrived to secure the area, closing off the affected road.

Presently, the vicinity surrounding the fallen tree has been cordoned off, with the road closure extending from the junction with Carrhill Road down to Milton Street. Tree specialists have been summoned to evaluate the extent of the destruction caused by the fallen tree. Mr. Wilco recounted the event, emphasizing the intensity of the impact and expressing gratitude that there were no injuries sustained.

In the wake of Storm Claudia, numerous trees succumbed to the powerful winds, with gusts reaching 50 to 60mph and over 20mm of rainfall within 24 hours. Specialists were also required to clear away a fallen tree that had crashed onto a row of homes in Edgeley, Stockport. The transportation networks, including railway services, tram lines, and major routes, have been severely disrupted as authorities assess the aftermath of the turbulent weather conditions.
