The latest installment of Jenny Han’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty” series, Season 3, is nearing its conclusion, but fans are still being introduced to fresh faces. A recent episode, now available on Prime Video, showcased Belly (played by Lola Tung) embarking on a new romantic journey with Parisian character Benito (portrayed by Fernando Cattori).
This blossoming romance follows Belly’s decision to escape to Europe after her failed engagement with Jeremiah. The sparks between Belly and Benito ignite during the holiday season when Belly chooses to remain in France rather than returning home for Christmas. Their relationship progresses, culminating in a passionate New Year’s Eve kiss and a seemingly solid bond by the end of episode 10 in Season 3.
Fernando Cattori, the Mexican actor and director, breathes life into the character of Benito. While known for his work behind the camera, Cattori recently earned acclaim with a Latin Grammy nomination for his directorial work on ‘Nacimos Llorando.’ Transitioning to acting, he debuted in Netflix’s crime drama “Untamed Royals” as Gerardo and later appeared in Prime Video’s Spanish romcom “With You in the Future.”
Now taking on his first English-speaking role in “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” Cattori reflected on the challenges of portraying Benito in a recent interview with Schön! Magazine. He shared his struggles with acting in English, expressing that embodying a character who thinks and feels in a different language posed a significant adjustment for him.
“The Summer I Turned Pretty” will wrap up with its final episode next week on Prime Video, promising an emotional conclusion for fans.
