Reflecting on his achievement, Mislawchuk expressed his satisfaction, stating, “It’s been seven years of close calls, but standing on the WTCS podium competing against the world’s best is unparalleled. I seized an opportunity today and made my move three kilometers into the run. Throughout the last five kilometers, I reminded myself that this is the result of daily training. It’s gratifying to perform at the highest level.”
Unfortunately, fellow Canadian Liam Donnelly did not complete the race. In the women’s competition, Canada’s Desirae Ridenour achieved her career-best eighth-place finish for the second consecutive season. The 26-year-old athlete from Cowichan Bay, British Columbia, finished all three segments with a total time of 1:50:58.
