Vernon Kay recently shared a humorous anecdote about his early days with wife Tess Daly. The 51-year-old television personality and model has been happily married to the 56-year-old BBC star since 2003, and they share two children.
Their love story had a somewhat awkward start when Vernon faced a financial blunder on their first date. The couple, who first crossed paths in 2001, enjoyed a romantic dinner at Zilli Fish restaurant in London. However, the evening took an unexpected turn when Vernon’s bank card was declined.
Reflecting on the mishap, Vernon recalled the moment, saying, “Tess and I went to Zilli Fish for our first date.” He humorously added, “I think we ordered a bottle of pinot grigio, but Tess doesn’t like pinot grigio.” To his embarrassment, Tess had to cover the bill as his card failed to work.
During a recent interview, Vernon playfully suggested that Jesus Christ would be the ultimate guest at a dinner party, highlighting the biblical figure’s miraculous abilities.
Last year, as they celebrated 21 years of marriage, Vernon opened up about the ups and downs of their relationship. He emphasized the importance of communication and compromise in maintaining a successful partnership. Vernon advised being open, discussing feelings, and evolving together as key elements for a strong and lasting bond.
